Higher Degree by Research and Early Career Researcher Mentorship and Development Program

The MO CRE’s Higher Degree by Research (HDR) and Early Career Researcher (ECR) Mentorship and Development Program aims to equip the future leaders of substance use research with the necessary training, skills, and research and support networks for a successful career.

The program is led by Chief Investigators Professor Amanda Baker (The University of New South Wales) and Dr Briony Larance (University of Wollongong), and is supported by Dr Alison Beck, the Early Career Researcher Development Coordinator, and Ms Chloe Haynes, the Higher Degree by Research Student Coordinator. Members of the program include current HDR (PhD/Masters) students, Postdoctoral Research Fellows, Research Fellows, Research Associates, Associate Lecturers, Lecturers, affiliated researchers within 10 (full-time equivalent) research active years of completing their PhD, and/or other interested researchers who identify as early career researchers.

  • Promote professional and personal development
  • Expand research skills and knowledge
  • Improve management and leadership skills
  • Provide mentorship opportunities
  • Provide opportunities to share new ideas, approaches and novel research in the field

Through participating in our program, we hope that our ECR and HDR students:

  • Develop a strong professional identity
